Process

How it works

I

Consultation

Tell us what you know: names, places, photos, documents, and family stories. We agree on goals and which lines to research.

II

Research

We search census, vital, church, immigration, military, and newspaper records. Our AI-assisted process speeds the work, and a human reviews every finding.

III

Writing & design

Your findings become readable life stories with historical context, family trees, maps, and a citation for every fact.

IV

Delivery

You receive your complete family history as a downloadable PDF, most within about one month, ready to print or share with relatives. A printed hardcover is available as an option.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Where does your research come from?

We work from historical records: census returns, vital records, church registers, immigration and naturalization files, military records, newspapers, and public archives. Every fact is cited so you can verify it.

How do you use AI?

AI tools help us organize records, transcribe documents, and draft narratives faster. A human reviews every finding and citation before anything reaches you. We do not use automated tools on sites whose terms forbid it.

How do you protect living relatives' privacy?

Living people are hidden or redacted by default in your PDF. Your family history is delivered only to you, and you decide who receives a copy. See our Privacy Policy.

Do I need to take a DNA test?

No. We do not collect DNA data. If you choose to share DNA results, we use them only for your project.

Can you guarantee you'll find my ancestors?

No one can. Records can be missing, incomplete, or wrong. We report what the records show, including what we could not confirm. See our Research Disclaimer.

How long is the family history?

Your family history is typically 500+ pages, depending on how many lines we trace and how many records survive.

Can I get a printed book?

Yes. A printed hardcover is an optional add-on, quoted separately based on length, format, and number of copies.

How long does it take?

Most PDF editions are delivered in about one month; printed hardcovers take longer. Timing can vary with your family lines and record availability.

Are you affiliated with Ancestry, FamilySearch, or MyHeritage?

No. Legacy Bound History is an independent business.
